Election season in India is always a vibrant time. People passionately take sides and engage in intense debates. Although I don’t have strong political inclinations, my WhatsApp groups turned into hotbeds for political discussions. People cling to their ‘ideologies,’ making the conversations both fascinating and exhausting.

A Heated WhatsApp Debate

In one such group, a heated argument erupted between three members. It was two against one, and both sides presented valid points until it got personal. It took days for tempers to cool. The unexpected election results deflated the excitement, but the ideological clashes continued. Eventually, I had to remove a couple of members to restore peace.

Reflecting on the Decision

  • Why did I do that? I don’t know.
  • Was it meant to hurt someone? No.
  • Did I lose a few friendships? Yes!
  • Was it right on my part? No.
  • Did I feel good? No.
  • Did I achieve what I wanted? Yes. The calm was worth it.
